Importing AI stems into Ableton Live, step by step

  1. 1Generate or expand an idea in muzeme.io and pick your target BPM before rendering — the tempo lock uses it as the grid reference.
  2. 2Download the stem pack (48 kHz WAV, one file per stem, uniquely named per stem role).
  3. 3In Live, set the Set tempo to the same BPM shown on the muzeme.io project.
  4. 4Drag the whole stem folder into Arrangement view at bar 1.1.1 — do not drop into Session view first if you want the arrangement intact.
  5. 5Select all clips and start with Warp OFF. If the files do not remain aligned, confirm the exact project BPM before using warping as a fallback.

Tempo and grid behaviour

  • — Start every stem at bar 1 and set Live to the BPM shown on the project; check alignment across the full arrangement before editing.
  • — Leading silence is measured and compensated before export, so transients land on the downbeat rather than a few milliseconds late.
  • — If you re-render at a different BPM, re-import — do not warp the old stems to the new tempo.

Common problems and fixes

Stems sound tight against each other but drift against Live's metronome.

Warp is on and Live has guessed the tempo. Select every clip, turn Warp off, and confirm the Set tempo matches the project BPM.

Everything is one bar late.

You dropped the folder at the playhead, not at 1.1.1. Move the group to bar 1 rather than nudging individual clips.

Two stems have the same file name.

Re-download — stem names are now uniquely suffixed per role, so nothing overwrites in your Samples folder.

Can I export an Ableton project file?

Not currently. Download the available WAV stems and import them into Live manually; automated .als project generation is coming soon.

Which Ableton version is needed?

Stem import works in any version of Live that supports WAV files, including Intro. Set Live to the project BPM and import the downloaded stems with Warp off.

Can I use my own loop instead of generating from scratch?

Yes — upload the loop and muzeme.io expands it into a full arrangement in the same genre, then gives you the stems back.
